At just 20 minutes from Annecy, this via ferrata runs just above the village of Thônes . Also known as “La Roche à l’ Agathe, this quite vertical via ferrata can be a bit impressive. The start consist in a monkey bridge and we already feel the atmosphere! Then, a nice series of small vertical parts make us gain altitude quickly . We reach the key crossing with two options: l’ Echelle des Pompiers (The Fireman ladder) which is in fact an inverted scale ( rated D + : Difficult +) or the the overhang (rated extremely difficult ED ).
Then a nice set of natural holds lead us to the top of the Thônes via ferrata where we enjoy a bird view over the valley of Thônes . We get down in 30 min to the village.
