In the heart of Aravis mountains, close to Annecy, La Clusaz is the free-riders’ ski resort.Indeed, the winter storms which are coming from the West are dumping loads of powder on the varied and often steep terrain, creating the best conditions for free riding. This ski resort is home for the well known Candid Thovex . Saying that doesn’t mean we need to fly feets over head, over big cliffs to enjoy La Clusaz’ off piste ! As a former ski patroller in la Clusaz, I know perfectly the off piste possibilities, so if you need a guide to dicover this beautifull place, keep in touch with me.
Here are some of the best runs we may ski:
-” la Combe de BellaCha” which can be reached by a slightly ascending traverse from Balme massif. Three thousand feets of pure feelings!
-“La Creuse”: an hidden bowl, not very crowded as the access can be difficult, but which worth the effort.
– “Les couloirs des Croix ou de la Lana”, two ski couloirs on the Aiguille massif.
– “La combe de Borderan”, a long and classic bowl, a must do in case of fresh snow .
But beware! The price of fresh powder is high in la Clusaz and a late departure will compromise your chances of making your own track in virgin snow fields. Late means sometimes 30 minutes here…
