High in the valley, Val Thorens offer great backcountry off piste possibilities. Above the Menuires and Saint martin villages, Val Thorens 2300m ASL is well known for its long season and it’s snow quality. The altitude keep the snow very cold and that’s a -very- good news for powder hounds. The backcountry area is huge with a good variety ranging from gentle alpine meadows to high mountain glaciers. The south side aka Maurienne side figures endless descents with a remarkable vertical drop off, the Brequin north face offers plenty of itineraries leading to the beautiful “Lac du Lou”, the “Masse” top is the starting for numerous long bowls ending in the nearby pretty villages where we find good and typical restaurants.

We have the choice to meet in Val Thorens, Les Menuires or Saint Martin at the pre-arranged time. After the usual briefing and gear check-up, we will warm up on a nearby off piste. Then, using the ski lifts we will visit secret spots where snow conditions are the best. As an IFMGA mountain guide, I’ve been working in the 3 Valleys for more then ten years, so trust my knowledge of the area, you will get on the nicest runs! This is your day! So I will be consulting with you on an ongoing basis to make sure you get the best ski experience!

Of course, along the way I will also be there to teach avalanche safety skills, coach you on powder skiing technique and generally help you improve you backcountry skills and confidence.

If you  are willing to push much further, do not hesitate to bring ski touring gears and you’ll enjoy calm and pristine mountain areas.

Alone or with friends, get in touch with me, you wont regret your adventure.
